Warren Cooke
Warren Cooke is a mid-career artist who works across traditional print mediums most frequently in the landscape genre. His work is represented in public and private collections in Australia and overseas. Some of Warren’s exhibition highlights include a solo exhibition at Benalla Regional Art Gallery, Fremantle Print prize finalist, CPM National Print Awards finalist and Burnie Print prize finalist.
In the last few years Warren has used the relief printing technique of reduction woodcut. With a combination of printing by hand and press, Warren slowly builds up the surfaces of his prints. Some areas resonate with a multitude of layers creating a rich painterly feel. In other areas the application of ink is thinner and the texture of the wood grain is omnipresent giving a lightness and relaxed attitude to his vision of land and sea.
